Jane Eccles
Time of day and seasonal weather are the subjects of Jane Eccles plein air paintings. Working directly from nature rather than photographs, her landscapes are primarily specific to Cape Cod. Her primary focus is color. Andre Van Der Wende wrote: “Jane Eccles walks a superb tightrope of incongruous colors several octaves higher than most-- bottomless yellows and orangey ochres set against a deep lavender sky – to somehow capture the strange turn to dusk.”
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Art History and a minor in Philosophy and a Masters in Fine Art from Montclair State, she is the recipient of a New Jersey State Council of the Arts Fellowship for distinguished work in Printmaking. Her artwork is included in the collections of the Newark Museum, Princeton University’s Firestone Library, Rutgers University, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, the Cape Museum of Fine Arts, and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, as well as numerous corporate and private collections.
